The Hydro Production Business Unit of Nova Scotia Power has in excess of 200 oil systems located in 34 generating stations. We needed to a tool to measure the risks associated with the current system, to develop and prioritize a multi-year capital program to reduce the risks.

I’ve worked with Phil Green for over ten years at two different companies, and his expertise in measurement and risk management seemed an ideal combination to me for this job. Phil's approach is to listen carefully to the customer's needs and then work in a collaborative way to design the best solution. he Hydro Production Business Unit of Nova Scotia Power has in excess of 200 oil systems located in 34 generating stations. Phil worked with members of the hydro team to develop a risk assessment tool that was aimed at meeting our very specific needs. Our maintenance and operations teams then applied it across the hydro division. Within six months, we had quantified the risks. he Hydro Production Business Unit of Nova Scotia Power has in excess of 200 oil systems located in 34 generating stations. On the basis of the risk assessment work done with Phil, we developed and implemented a number of engineering design standards specific to our risks and we have prioritized a multi-year capital program. The results have been so successful that two members of the risk assessment team were recognized with a "CEO Award of Excellence" for Environmental Achievement. Hydro staff feel that we have a best-in-class risk management system that will reduce the likelihood of oil releases in the future and also demonstrate a high level of diligence on the part of the company to its environmental commitments he Hydro Production Business Unit of Nova Scotia Power has in excess of 200 oil systems located in 34 generating stations.
